No, that was very well handled by Noah. It wasn't going to go by without a word.

Eh. Might have been. Didn’t exactly go through the front door though.

Had to be very political. Didn’t want to hurt the assaulter too much.

I thought Noah would have been funnier about that. Questlove was very good and you can tell that he’s pissed that his Oscar win was overshadowed

I was a Questlove fan before, and that documentary nailed it home. If you haven't seen Summer of Soul, you really need to, especially if you love American Music.

    Meanwhile...

Everyone involved with a film about Richard Williams should be banned for 10 years.

I don't condone what Smith did at this year's Oscars.

But I can't believe the academy is banning him for 10 years.

I think they idea with punishments -- assuming the offense was not lethal -- is to make people think about and reflect on what they did/what happened, and to, hopefully, move forward from there in a better way. If you make the consequences too strong and too harsh -- unreasonably so, in my opinion -- they just lose their effectiveness, and make all you do is make the person shut down, give up, not care, etc., and the whole point of the action is missed.

Disagree. The Academy's responsibility here is not to educate or rehabilitate Will Smith.

Its responsibility is to the safety of its members and presenters.

Being banned from attending the Oscars or other Academy events for ten years isn't much of a punishment.

Sounds like he's still eligible for nomination. He can still win an Academy Award . . . even if he can't go to the ceremony to pick it up.
