You be the Judge. That's a verdict he may regret, upon appeal.

Boston's lighting up Cole mercilessly here at the start. 3-0 lead, nobody out. Devers took him yard.

    He's pretty obviously got nothing.

Yes, Devers just wasted a nothing slider.

EDIT: Got my hitters mixed up. Devers got all of a high 99-mph heater. Bogaerts followed with 111-mph exit velocity on that flat slider, only getting a single out of it.

He’ll be here all week, ladies and gentlemen.

I don’t get the whole contact as a distraction thing. Player has an agent and they talk to management. Player doesn’t even have to be involved.

A distraction is not knowing if you get another contract, not wondering if you will be paid $200 million or $300 million

That doesn't seem smart for a guy who turns 30 in two weeks and that money doesn't start until next year.

Yeah. I don't think he ages well. $30 million at 35+ won't look good for the Yankees.

The Mets will offer him more.

I meant for Judge to turn down, not the Yankees to offer, but it probably works both ways.

Tigers win a barnburner opener 5-4 over the White Sox.
Cabrera ties the game with a 2-run single in the 8th (2988), Sox go back in front in the 9th, then Eric Haase hits a pinch hit homer to re-tie it, then newcomer Austin Meadows strokes a triple and Baez singles him in with an almost-homer fly ball off the outfield fence for the winner.

They did all of that against Liam Hendriks, who looked like he was struggling with his location from the moment he entered the game. Haase wasn't pinch-hitting. He had entered the game in the eighth inning. The ball Baez hit should have been caught. Pollock badly misplayed it.
