You speak for not just "the left," but Elon Musk?

Elon Musk would like to buy twitter (even though he can't afford it and probably just created a situation where private equity steps in to actually afford it), because he is a charlatan who relies on a megaphone and laser light shows to distract people long enough to enrich himself on bullshit. Twitter is a key platform that people use to amplify messages and control narratives. That isn't limited to politics, even though that is what you are unusually obsessed with creating narratives about. Politicians do it. But so do business leaders. So do celebrities. Elon Musk doesn't give two fucks about politics on twitter, except for how he can use politicians to wrangle subsidies that benefit his net worth on paper. What he cares about is the megaphone that twitter provides for him to do his carnival barker act.

There are a lot of people who feel that there is too much government/regulations in their lives and would rather have these matters left to the market. I’m often sympathetic to those points but disagree as to degree. Those were people who believed in America and the common good. The McCain and Romneys of the world. They have no power. The entire GOP has been overtaken by the pro-gun, racist and and xenophobic fringe. The largest cable news network spouts views on a daily basis which would have been unthinkable 10 years ago. I think that it the fault of those people and not the fact that there are a bunch of left wing people on Twitter.

As I remember it, not necessarily correctly, but in my own experience, twitter's entry in the political world came because journalists used it to 1. Call attention to their own and others' stories and 2. Swap jokes, gossip, etc., all the stuff they used to do on the telephone. The politicians and political activists then joined in en masse because they now had a new means of getting the attention of journalists.

It’s almost like enslaving people an ocean away to build our shit was a bad idea.
