I suppose you don’t think Cabrera is a Hall of Famer

Trout has three MVPs, Cabrera two
It’s not like Trout got screwed out of an MVP

If we're doing the context thing, then Betts was 2016 AL MVP and it's not even close.

He is not as great as popular opinion, but a HOFer.
He did get screwed, no matter how many other MVPs he won. One season is irrelevant in regards to another.

He won the old triple Crown and Modern triple crown. 12 of 13 seasons hitting .310 or better. 6 years of OBP .400 or better.

He’s as great as popular opinion

How great is the popular opinion on Miguel Cabrera that it oversells his career? Who's running around putting him among the 5 or 10 best hitters of all-time?

By advanced metrics you mean subjectively-created projections rather than what actually happened. Those are fine, but they do not replace the measures of what actually happened, at least not if we want to judge things accurately.

I'm not ignoring the value of defense, but it doesn't outweigh playing over 20 more games, being a better hitter, and doing it for a playoff team.

No, he really didn't. At worst, it was a close call that could have gone either way, but it is utterly ridiculous to whine about it as if it was some great injustice. That simply isn't true.

Meh. If anybody brings it up, I can still argue Bonds over Pendleton in 1991. Now that was an example of an outfielder getting absolutely screwed out of a well-deserved MVP award.

I dont understand WAR, the baseball stat. Robinson Cano 69.2 > Miggy Cabrera 68.8

Cabrera doesn't play defense and when he does, he's bad at it
