The law doesn't go into effect until June, 2023. And there's some mechanism within it that it can be brought up again and repealed. This is a stunt of some sort and I don't think it's ever going to happen. But I think that the DeSantis and the GOP want to see what the potential fallout is among voters.

 

In other words, it's a rear guard action. And they'll be looking out for their rears if this plays out like expected.

 

They want Disney to grovel. Or at least pile on some extra cash and make up some half-assed story about compromise that they can sell after the midterms.
