I’m guessing that, since it’s a slow auction, the league has traditionally begun its draft in February. If so, I think standing as is would be the only solution.

My leagues all adjusted their drafts to account for the lockout. Not one of them declared keepers, much less began drafting before the lockout ended. It ended up being a tight turnaround in a couple of them, but owners adjusted. If the league didn’t make accommodations for the lockout, I can’t see why the waiver leader should be penalized.

I’m guessing the league champ gets first waiver priority since they had last pick, but I’d probably just base it on standings after week 1, with last (lowest scoring team) picking first.

There were options, but the commissioner really blew it. He refused to adjust to the lockout, then jerked everybody around for a week before doing nothing. It was the same stubbornness that led to two long-time league members quitting this past offseason.

Maybe it's just me, but I do not get why teams wait until the very last minute to put players on the IL. I'm not talking about players who might actually play this week. I'm talking about guys who are out for months. The Padres haven't put Fernando Tatis, Jr. on the IL even though he is out until at least June. Josh Rojas of the Diamondbacks is out until May, but not on the IL. Don't these people know they are messing with my fantasy teams?

Edit: The Diamondbacks waited until about noon today to put Rojas on the IL. CBS didn't adjust his status until about four hours later, so I had to drop a player to make my roster legal. Now I've got to waste a waiver position if I want to replace him. Bastards.

I somehow ended up with 4/5 of the Guardians starting rotation on my team. This is not ideal.

I'm planning to try to add Mackenzie Gore with a waiver bid tonight and debating whether I should drop Snell or Paddack. Salaries aren't an issue. More a matter of which player has the best chance to possibly regain the form that made them coveted fantasy assets for a season or two.

I'm leaning toward dropping Snell since he's out for at least week and he's 3 years older, but he's also a former Cy Young winner and owned in 99 percent of leagues. Paddack has the feel of a guy whose limited repertoire lowers his ceiling, but I'm wondering if the move to Minnesota will help (he probably could be a dominant reliever, but they don't appear inclined to use him that way).

Tough call, mostly because I don't like either guy. Keeping the healthy one is sound logic, though in a vacuum, I have a tiny bit more faith in Snell.

This extra-long opening week is not ending well. One of my teams was up big most of the way, 9-3 pretty much all of this week. Thanks to my guys completely crapping the bed today, I'm going to be lucky if they hold on for a 5-5 tie.

Mahle's implosion also screwed me in two leagues. The overall numbers may end up useful, but man, when the wheels fall off, it gets really ugly.

Do I dare trust Clay Bellinger again? I nearly sat him in my money league with the Dodgers facing a good lefty, Manaea. I started him just because I hate to have that upside on my bench and he rewarded me with two home runs.

I saw this last night, and decided give you a pass, figuring somebody else would come along to bust your butt. Ha, nobody did.
You're not going to get many points from Clay Bellinger, unless you're in a Seniors League. But this is sure to be a disadvantage to the Steelers.

Damn. I screwed that up and it took an entire day!

There just aren't enough people reading the thread, but yeah, Cody Bellinger might be a better choice despite the disaster of 2021.

I drafted Bellinger as a flier in a league, fully intending to keep him on the bench until he could hit again. He’s been a regular in my lineup for a week and a half.

Of course, he went 0-for-4 tonight.

He was autodrafted in our league. Pretty sure Guy didn't even want him.
