    Disney employs 38 lobbyists alone in Talahassee, and each election cycle it sprinkles around how much cash to politicians? Disney's "first amendment" rights (i.e. -- the corruption we are really talking about), have resulted in it usually getting whatever it wanted in Florida.

    I get it. DeSantis is wielding government in a shitty, vindictive way, targeting one business because it spoke out in a way he didn't like. In the past, politicians used government in the exact opposite way with regard to Disney. The righteous "first amendment" stuff from some people is hard to take seriously when they could have given two shits in the past when the government-Disney relationship was being wielded to Disney's advantage over and over again and they didn't care because it wasn't Ron DeSantis and the "don't say gay" law in focus then.

    I think the big objection is that DeSantis is deliberately targeting a corporation and using the mechanisms of government to punish that company at the same time he is demonizing them for partisan political purposes. Throw in that the R's are supposed to be about keeping big government off the citizen's backs and supporting corporations, while this entire debate is about ginning up culture war fears and posturing that only DeSantis the Strong can protect Florida from the perverts at Disney.

    Carl Hiaasen took on Disney back in the '90s. Read his book.
    It's a quick read, only about 85 pages, and it's wickedly hilarious.
