That's about how I'd figure it. "Give us this scalp to parade around in front of the masses, and we'll avert our eyes as you and yours quietly make it a moot point."

I'm generally skeptical of (and hold my wallet tight around) those that "go big" from the get-go.

"It's not the (exact*) same thing!" is the usual oop go-to.

*meaning the particulars do not line up so specifically that you could overlay one over the other without anything sticking out --- in other words, something impossible to achieve.

Me in a hypothetical exchange with MommaQuant ...

"What I did is absolutely NOT what President Clinton did!"

"You were getting hummers from your intern!"

"Yeah, but she spells her first name 'Monicka'!"

Did Junior always have this low of a voice, or has he tried to manly-man! it up in recent years?

Anyway, this is fucked, but expected:

That's it exactly. I live in Florida and I have endured some really bad governors, but there has never been anyone like a DeSantis. As soon as he was elected he took control of the press by not speaking to them, by belittling them instead of answering questions, by not allowing some of them into public meetings. He would pick and choose who could come in. He is a threat to democratic rule. He's been especially effective in Florida because the legislature is very weak, and because it's overwhelmingly Republican so it just passes whatever he wants.

The issue of eliminating two black majority districts for the House of Representatives is way more important but has gotten pushed to the side, which is probably his goal. But the legislature went against him on that until they didn't.

And if this Disney ruling stands, then any government entity in the United States whether it's at the local level, the state level or the federal level, can pass a law specifically designed to punish a company or a person or any other entity that disagrees with them.

They can pass a law to remove special considerations that company was getting (that other companies were not).

Much different than handing them a punishment unique to them.

You might not get them back if they're only dropped once.
