You touch upon a very good point here. On any sports team aside from maybe rec league teams where everyone gets to play, there are things that are officially voluntary but unofficially mandatory. Usually it’s offseason workouts or something like that. I can easily see the postgame prayers falling into that category. The kids don’t have to pray, but he doesn’t have to play them.
