So the SecState and the SecDef went to Ukraine for talks. Afterwards, Austin tells the press, in so many words, that our strategy is to help the Ukrainians win, and in the process of doing so to degrade Russia's military, force them to deplete stores and munitions and cost them so much money that they would become a much diminished threat. Just told it bang.

It's sorta shouting the quiet part out loud, but it's also a marker and a warning to Putin.

Has Putin choked on his vomit yet? Channeling goalmouth, I suppose.

    I don't know.

We're getting all chesty now that we see Putin's army is second rate? What sort of US intelligence failure - over decades - did it take for us not to know this already?

Or did we know it, and just choose to do nothing to stop this?

And what happened to our fears over Putin's nukes? Was that not the reason we didn't intervene sooner? Or talk tougher?

Now we're all public threats and he-man punch-in-the-nose toughness?

    What gives?

Hmm, in 1861, the Confederacy had been a part of the United States since 1776. Rand just justified the War of Northern Aggression.

Someone in Kentucky should use that if they run against him.

Why? If the Civil War would be fought today, do you think Kentucky would side with the Yankees again? No way.

You have a point. At the same time, he's making an argument against the CSA and by extension, the antebellum USA.
I was up there last week. In rural areas on the Tennessee side of the border, it was all Thin Blue Line, Trump, and US flags. Once you cross into Kentucky you see more St. Andrews' Cross and generic Protestant Christian flags.

While it's not a scientific poll with direct responses, what people display says a lot about what they believe.
