    It’s also just too narrow.

Adding it back really didn’t make any sense. I’d bet it disappears again once the contract is up.

Beautiful track though. I love the fact that it just seems to be plopped down in a village with homes in the infield.

I believe there's a track and field track in the infield as well. And I should probably walk the "shit track" comment back a bit. As PC said, it's got interesting features, but it's just too narrow for this kind of racing. Also it's so early in the season it seems like it's always kind of dreary looking there.

It didn’t help that they ran half the race without DRS, even after everyone had switched to slicks.

That was Hamilton's beef, no? That he got stuck in a huge group with no real chance to pass without DRS?

Sort of, but he was at the caboose of what they call a "DRS train," where no one gains any actually advantage because they all have DRS based off the car in front of them.

Because putting your ass on the razor's edge of crashing two times in 24 hours wasn't puckery enough. The SAFER barriers aren't "soft." Hitting one at 230 mph is a whole lot worse than at, say, Long Beach.

You know the Mercedes sled is awful when Toto is out there saying the car is not worthy of Lewis Hamilton. Quite a mouthful when factoring in that Wolff is a part owner of the team IIRC.

    He is, yes.

The Merc is particularly awful this season, which is unfortunate because a three-way race for the Constructors with Ferrari and Red Bull would have been a lot of fun, but it's amazing how the porpoising is so prevalent across all the teams. It was particularly noticeable Sunday, with many cars bouncing down the straight. I hope they all figure it out soon. It's definitely distracting from an otherwise fun season.

Another thought on that: Russell has been outperforming Hamilton so far. I'm curious what it's like in the garage and what they all think about that. It'll be interesting to see if that's a storyline in next season's Drive to Survive.

So much for all the "Thank God he didn't die in that fireball in Bahrain" goodwill.
