That's not the same thing. At all.

The executive director of the Georgia Public Policy Foundation -- apparently a GOP lobby group -- gets a weekly op-ed in the local rag about "replacing public schools with vouchers." He graduated from the largest public university in the state, meaning he paid only a small portion of the total cost of his education, much of which is largely funded by taxpayer dollars. (And he obviously got short-changed in the process.)

I've asked him to explain why then we shouldn't add a privately-funded DMV, department of revenue or court system, given that driving laws, tax rates or judge's rulings should be my choice to follow or ignore, just like his belief in vouchers over public education. He hasn't responded back.

New Jersey tried privatizing DMV inspections. It worked so well they cancelled the contract, closed most of the inspection stations, and extended individual vehicle inspection validity by years. LOL

So were they actually conducting good inspections that cost people money for repairs, and there were general public howls of dismay? Or were they cashing in on a captive audience?

You'd have an easier time getting anyone who says the election was rigged to explain why.

    As...GOP? I agree.

But when the words "mainstream Christians" is used in addition to the GOP...I'm not sure what "mainstream Christians" would be more mainstreamy than the in-house theologian at Christianity Today.

I suspect that the term "mainstream Christians" in this context applies to a broad spectrum of church goers, ministers, congregations, and in some cases denominations who seem to have no problem with demonizing the other, eschewing charity to those in need, and generally turning their back on fundamental principles of Christianity while worshiping a golden calf.

That the Art of the Deal somehow turned out poorly for someone in involved, maybe.

Trump's whole shtick was that he was a master dealmaker, and one of his pitches for being president was that he would negogiate "deals" that would save the country oodles of money. Wouldn't this be proof that he is a great dealmaker?

FWIW, Boeing entered a contract in 2018 for a fixed price and since then inflation made it so that their costs are way beyond anything they anticipated (something Trump didn't plan, FWIW). But they are locked in. Yeah, they shouldn't have entered into that contract, but they aren't alone in not having anticipated that their input prices would increase more than 20 percent since then.
