There is surely a place for serious, comic-based movies.

But the recent DC movies, Joker being the notable exception, have been a fucking slog to get through. And that has little to do with the seriousness of the films and a lot to do with how they’re executed.

I’m still trying to figure out how they screwed up Batman v. Superman. The two most iconic heroes in comic history — with Wonder Woman tossed in almost as an afterthought — and a $250 million budget? That’s practically a license to print money.

Yet, we got an hour of Henry Cavill sulking, another hour of Jesse Eisenberg having an on-camera seizure, a ridiculous “Their moms have the same first name!!” denouement, and an unwatchable special-effects mashup in the last 45 minutes.

The Batman was fine for what it is. Dano was fantastic, and Pattinson was fine — better than Affleck, at least. But, again, it was a slog.

Just about every DC movie of the last decade could be an hour shorter and not lose anything.

Everything, Everywhere. A bit too random for me in the first half, but a nice job overall. Wife loved it. Michelle Yeoh was fantastic.

The Bubble on Netflix was fun, if a bit overlong.

If the penalty for sexual harassment and or groping was guillotining of hands and/or penis, it would stop really fast.

I'd been wondering when his time would come. With what was alleged in court documents in one divorce and what has been alleged by Richard Dreyfuss, he sounds like he's got issues.

The headline for the first story I read about this halting of production mentioned Aziz Ansari. Clicking on the article, it was reported that Aziz wasn't involved in the issue that caused the shutdown. The article listed the actors, and for some reason I immediately thought Murray was the problem.

The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent is really good. Nicolas Cage does a great job of playing a fictionalized version of himself and Pedro Pascal is great as his sidekick.

There is humor and action. It’s the kind of movie where you find yourself smiling throughout.

Seth MacFarlane is attached to reboot "The Naked Gun" franchise, with Liam Neeson in the Leslie Nielson role. I dunno about Neeson as a slapstick comedy lead, but then I would never have predicted that he would become an action star either, so what do I know? In development, not production so far.

Nielsen, George Kennedy, Peter Graves, Lloyd Bridges and Robert Stack were all dramatic actors before Naked Gun and Airplane, so it could work.

Neeson is pretty talented as an actor. It was just a jarring thought. Thanks for putting it into better context. As I stated above, he's already proved me wrong once.
