I remember I grabbed Gilbert when he was first called up, he sucked and I cut him after a month or so. Then I needed a streamer later on, saw he was starting that day, had been doing better, grabbed him, and he kicked some ass.

That said, at his current rate, I may be looking at buying out his arbitration years soon ;)

The thing is, he never really sucked. He was just a rookie working things out. I was focused on winning last year and that was worth it, but I regret not making room for Gilbert when you cut him. Of course, he's pitching a bit over his head right now, but somewhere in between what we saw last season and what we've seen so far this year is a very good pitcher.

Anyone know why it takes so long to process a trade? Is that a setting we did on purpose?

I can check the settings. I thought it would have been processed by now. It's not like anybody is going to object. There is one side I like better, but it's a fair deal.

Edit: It is on the default setting, which has a two-day period for league owners to vote. The deal will go through on Saturday. Owners can simply do nothing and let it go through, which should be the case on this one.

I have no problem with Webb or any other young stud spending the majority of his great seasons with a particular team. That's the idea of a keeper league, isn't it? It also drives up the value of a player who was picked up on waivers.

Having been in a league that handles keepers this way for about 20 years, I can confidently say that, realistically, nobody gets picked up on waivers and then spends the next 10 years on the same roster. The value proposition changes too dramatically from year to year. It's not really an issue.

Also, losing your NA slot is kind of a best-case-scenario, isn't it? I mean, that's the idea — stash someone in the NA slot until they make the bigs and become a force for your team. You should ideally be gaining by "losing" your NA player.

Gotta love it. Two of my pitchers get blown up earlier this week, then turns out they have arm injuries. Of course, the teams waited until after games had started today to put them both on the IL. Bastards.

Good morning guys. I had a question about the playoffs come up last night and realized the settings aren't right, so I'm reaching out here before I fix them. I'm posting this on the league site, too, so everybody should see it.

In the past, I thought we had six teams in the playoffs, with the top two getting byes. Right now, it is set for four teams, with the championship going all the way to the final day of the season. (I kind of like the championship being a week and a half. The longer time period makes the result less random and we've gone to the last day in the past.)

I can still fix it to give us six teams, but we would lose a week of the regular season, which would end Sept. 11 instead of Sept. 18. There would still be six weeks after this one, so plenty of time before the playoffs, but I didn't want to make an adjustment during the season without full transparency. Any questions, comments or objections? I'd like to make the adjustment this week.

    Thanks for your feedback.

As someone who is currently listed as being in fifth place even though I'm apparently in virtual tie for fourth place, I wholeheartedly endorse this idea and wish to subscribe to your newsletter.

But then again, I'm slightly biased here. ;)

I’m in 7th with an outside shot at 6th. So, also biased.

I’d prefer the six-team playoff. I keeps more teams competing hard til the end

I'd also prefer the six-team playoff.
