The Trevor Bauer assault allegations

This is just a guess on my part: The Bauer accusations are the most graphic of any on this list. They include words like "anal" and "choking" in an extensive narrative now part of the public record in civil litigation.
But there is no real consistency in punishment.
Ozuna, for example, faced third-party eyewitness testimony that said he choked his girlfriend and threw her against the wall. He got 20 games in a case adjudicated at almost exactly the same time that the Bauer accusations first came to light.
Herrera apparently did something similar and was -- justifiably -- suspended for the final four months of the 2019 season.

Can't recall someone getting a two-year ban in any sport.

Not charged doesn't mean not guilty. Seems pretty clear the MLB investigation turned up or at least confirmed some pretty heinous stuff.

Initially, Rice was suspended for two games by the NFL. When the second (punch) video surfaced, the Ravens released him and the NFL suspended him indefinitely. The league could get away without having to affix a time frame to the punishment because, well, Ray Rice was a 28-year-old running back whose best days were behind him.

There are several things I don't get here. I don't get why anybody would ask another person to choke him or her to the point of unconsciousness. I don't understand how anyone asked to do such things could possibly accommodate the request. And I don't get how a prosecutor can decline to prosecute Bauer at least for the actions that inflicted bruises. I realize there are text messages in which the woman asks to be choked. I doubt there are any messages in which she also asks to be beaten up.

Remember when that leader of conmen, Coach Saint Mike K, indefinitely suspended Grayson Allen? For 1 game because St Mike is a lying sack of shit. But the indefinite part, for 24 hours, was the longest.

Worth noting: The two-year suspension does not include the 99 games he's already missed.

I thought that was one of the more interesting notes — I know he got paid for that time though.

Did they just set the bar for future incidents? German got half a season before Dyson got a full year, but his career was basically over

This is what I was thinking. When MLB gives a shit (cheating scandals), it can take its time and dig up plenty. Imagine the shit he's done that didn't see the light of day because history has proven the sheer hell a woman will go thru if she presses rape charges.
