Oh I agree, games were much faster even with the stepping out.

I'd be interested in a pitch count of those games, compared with, say, last year's WS game times and pitch counts.

Not seeing pitch counts on baseball-reference.com, but number of pitchers used:

    Game 5: Red Sox 4, Reds 2
    Game 6: Reds 8, Red Sox 4
    Game 7: Reds 4, Red Sox 5
Total: 52 (Average of 7.43 with two extra inning games)

    2021:
    Game 1: Braves 5, Astros 6
    Game 2: Braves 5, Astros 5
    Game 3: Astros 6, Braves 5
    Game 4: Astros 6, Braves 6

I don’t know who is doing the NYY-KC game on Apple TV tonight, but the nicest thing I can say thus far is it’s brutal.

That classic rant never grows old.

RIP to Les Grobstein, the sports guy at WLS radio (still a music station then), who got Elia’s tirade on tape.

Also a yearly reminder that before 1984, the Cubs and Wrigley Field were not the nationally beloved tourist attraction they have become.

This White Sox fan remembers chasing down a Larry Bowa foul ball as my Little League team attended a Cubs game in a virtually empty upper deck at Wrigley Field.

Reminded me of hearing Harry Caray back when he was with the White Sox
“So Jimmy, I went over to the Cubs game the other day.
“You know, they play pretty good ball in the National League but they didn’t have any Falstaff in the ballpark.”

Phillies have zippo through seven at Citi Field. Megill was out after five upon reaching the Little League pitch count.

I read an article about the Sunday night game where there was video of the player blowing up at Angel Hernandez. The article said Hernandez missed 19 of 102 pitches, or about 19%. What percentage of pitches do umpires normally miss?

    Not 19 percent.
