Yeah, I wondered about that too. Of course, I'm biased, being from SDSU and all.
The two that went before Ariaza were from Georgia and Penn State, both big-time schools, which has me wondering if they were taken because they were in a major conference and playing a higher level of competition.
That brings me to the next question (and anyone who may know better, feel free to enlighten me): Does the level of competition or strength of schedule really matter that much in evaluating a punter? For QBs, running backs, defenders, etc., it's a valid argument, but it seems a punter just has to catch the snap, get a reasonable amount of protection and time to get it off, and kick it as far as you can or pin the opponent in there territory. If a guy can do it real well in the Mountain West, for example, what's the argument that he couldn't do just as well in any of the P5 conferences?

It's a nice story, but I'm not sure it was a good draft pick. Heyward's best position is probably tight end, but he's really short for the position.

If that is true, and it may be, perhaps the more relevant comparison would be the percentage of players taken first overall making it to the Hall of Fame as compared to the percentage of undrafted free agents.

He’ll probably be a special teams ace

The number of undrafted FAs will grow by at least one this summer.

Steelers' GM Kevin Colbert announced a while ago that he would be retiring after this draft. He had been the GM since 2000, helping to build two Super Bowl championship teams. Colbert is a Pittsburgh guy and he did a hell of a job for his hometown team for 22 years. He was asked about how he is leaving the franchise today.

Yeah. You are comparing more than a hundred players a year against 1.

Yeah, but that Chargers guy watching the Draft Day movie said they spent two years looking at Justin Hebert. If you can believe that (not sure I do), if you spend that much time looking at potential draft picks, you should at least be able to tell if they have their head on straight.

    Thin air helps the punts!!!

Bears drafted a punter out of NC State. Looks OK.
