I know he's bad from what I've seen here, but are the Yankees still not traveling their broadcasters?

Beyond rare to find someone who's been around an MLB team on a daily basis for decades and has less insight or fewer interesting observations than Suzyn Waldman.

Is there any job in pro sports with less turnover than play x play guys, baseball in particular? These guys work into their 70s and 80s and teams are afraid to replace them because of the backlash. We Mariner fans got Dave Niehaus, who was great in the 1980s and into the 1990s. Then he started failing and was awful for about 10 years before he finally retired by dying.

    You could try Tony Massarotti.

I came late in the game to greatly enjoy the Mets' Bob Murphy, he died less than a year later.

Tom Hamilton’s home run calls are going to be incredible once he goes senile.

High-decibel screaming for pop-ups to shortstop. I’m here for it.

Dusty was going to get in to Cooperstown eventually - but I almost think getting to 2,000 wins WITHOUT a ring is a more of a testament to what he does - and success with multiple teams no less. Add in his playing career which wasn't shabby - Hall of Very Good, obviously, but notable.

Dusty Baker is the only person in MLB history with 2,000 wins, 200 homers, 1,000 RBIs, and 1 lineup card exchange with his son.

Joe Posnanski had a good piece on Dusty and 2,000 wins last week. I thought it was well done and had a lot of perspective: Dusty and the Road to 2,000
