"...or who act like they're the richest person in the room..." Modesty is a severely underrated human trait.

Phil wasn't smart enough to figure out who the mark was.

    It was him.

No Phil, no Sergio, "oh man I'm not watching the PGA Tour any more...." NOT. Oh boy look Westwood is gone too.

Sergio and Phil leaving the Tour would be a huge blow if this was George Dubya’s first term.

    Shipnuck writes:

Shipnuck also said money was largely behind his split with longtime caddie Jim "Bones" Mackay in 2017. He wrote that Mackay left Mickelson after the Memorial that year over a series of "simmering grievances," including hundreds of thousands of dollars in back pay. Shipnuck wrote more details on that would be in the book.
Makes sense, guy who's getting the squeeze for gambling losses is holding out on the help. That's a story as old as time. Imagine you're Bones, you've got to hear Phil talking about blowing all this $$ on bets, etc. and you're still waiting to get paid for work done long ago. Karma's gonna get him (or the Saudis).

That was a helluva nugget. Bones seems like he's big on the omerta of the caddie-player relationship, never saying a bad word publicly about Phil after the breakup but he then unloads to a reporter for a book? Perhaps. But if not, how did Shipnuck get it?

To be fair to Sergio, read the PGA Tour version and Sergio got screwed by rules official.

Not to state the obvious, but someone who is generationally wealthy potentially blowing it all on gambling has a massive self destructive streak.

I just read the Phil story on Yahoo -- first time I've visited in years -- didn't know what a complete and utter cesspool of clickbait crap it had become.

I really wish I’d appreciated the aughts sports websites more than I did at the time.

I used to simply run out of time to read all the great stuff out there. Now I’m thrilled to get one story a week that interests me.

On the bright side, I’m flying through books now with all that extra time.
