This Beetlejuice game the board is playing today makes me think of the Henry Belafonte scene in Beetlejuice.

He should get a cut everytime Day-O is played at sporting event.

You're not wrong but really if you're looking at it this way, it's Cornerstone that would be the "stays with them" album. It's the one with "Babe," although it was a No. 1 single, and when DeYoung tried to turn them into a power ballad band. They bounced back nicely with Paradise Theater, which is tremendous. Then Kiloy, which is far better than everybody can be bothered to find out because nobody can get past Mr. Roboto, which is corny schlock but still beloved and now a staple at their shows, probably much to the chagrin of Shaw and Young. There's a lot of very good stuff on Kilroy, in particularly Heavy Metal Poisoning and Haven't We Been Here Before. But the album is remembered Roboto and the follow-up, "Don't Let It End," also a major hit, but just not a very good song. Styx's run of Equinox, Crystal Ball, Grand Illusion and Pieces of 8 was tremendous. If you erase Cornerstone and add on Paradis Theatre, it's a helluva five-album run.

On that note ... I fucking hate Duran Duran. That is all.

I can take or leave Duran Duran, but here's what kills me about them getting in: there were bands from the same genre/lineage/whatever who were so much better and more historically important that haven't been nominated.

Duran Duran going in while Joy Division/New Order hasn't been nominated is completely absurd. The Smiths, too.

Let me know when Oasis gets in.

And Duran Duran was massively good in their prime. Their early years were excellent too.

    Hot takes:

Richie Valens was the first real LA rock star as well as the first Chicano rock star. That merits his inclusion.

Of this year’s inductees, who more rouge: Duran Duran or Pat Benatar?

The Hall has been slammed for its lack of women inductees, which is probably why Benatar and Parton got in.

At this point, if Def Leppard, Duran Duran and Journey are in, no reason not to have Styx and Foreigner in.

As for Weird Al. How much different is his work than the average rapper who makes up new lyrics over old beats?

Uh, substantially. I'd argue that both merit inclusion at this point, though, depending on who you're referring to with your hypothetical second example.

Yeah, thanks. More evidence that Duran Duran totally sucks. This song does nothing, goes nowhere.

"Girls on Film" and "Hungry Like the Wolf" showed early promise. Everything after that is just vapid noise.
