I don't think Smart was in the act of shooting when he got fouled but instead went the "Contact? Oh, goodie! I'mma chuck it!" route that players - especially all-stars - have feasted on for too long. That said, I think another player more likely gets that call.

Smart has made his name by flailing/flopping/firing himself out of a cannon for so long that the officials were not inclined to be roped in by his bullshit in that moment.

The officiating in the Suns Mavs game was abhorrent, at best. I am biased but at least two of those fouls on Paul were absolute bullshit. That said, I’m realizing Cam Johnson is good at only one thing and if he’s not hitting 3s, he’s a total minus on the floor. He couldn’t defend my fat ass. The fact that the Suns were even close in this game was a miracle, considering Dallas’ success from 3. But only one team actually has to win a road game to win the series so I’m not terribly worried yet.
