Can the NHL and MLB go back to silent refs/umps using a simple hand signal and moving on with the game?

Oh man, I only saw one replay but it sure looked like first point of contact was the head to me.

I don't see Trotz in Detroit earlier. Yzerman's last coach hire was Jon Cooper, who had three years of AHL experience and 10 years coaching kids. Some have suggested he might hire a European, and considering the team's rapidly developing prospect pool includes no fewer than six Swedes in the top 10, there was some talk they might get a guy from the SEL.

I’m not going to argue the outcome either way. You go high, you open yourself to repercussions. Would be a big loss but TJ knows better.

Thank you Avs for at least bringing a sharp ax to this execution.

Colorado-Nashville will be the only first-round sweep. I'm guessing that Colorado likes it. They may even love it, and want some more of it in the next round. Nashville tried, so hard, but could not get above it.

A lot of this series looked like a bad first-round playoff series in Major Junior.

Preds have a Norris finalist, a rumored Vezena finalist, two 40-goal scorers and a bottom half of the roster that may as well be drunks from a pedal tavern.

    Off to shave.

    Josi deserves the Norris.

Last night was one of the most disappointing sporting events I have watched in ages as a fan. Just a gut punch. They didn't show up and embarrassed themselves. I can deal with losing, but they showed almost no competitiveness.

    No supplemental discipline for Oshie.

Here's a good angle of the hit, which does show that the initial point of contact was the chest. Then the shoulder catches Bennett's head. If the determining factor is initial point of contact, this was probably the correct decision.
