Just here to say this thread title is making me hate the Beatles. Can't it be changed to something else at some point? @Starman

Josh Naylor turned into Barry Bonds for three innings, and I’m convinced Tony LaRussa is going to get fired this season. What an awful hire for such a talented team.

I 100 percent believe La Russa convinced Reinsdorf to hire him so he could pass McGraw for second place on the all-time wins list and have a shot to be the second manager to win 3,000 games.

It was a terrible hire three seconds after it was announced

I don't disagree, but is it really his fault that one of the top closers in the game couldn't handle Josh Naylor? Naylor is an underrated player and he's got some power, but Hendriks has to be able to handle guys like that.

One of the more incredible, inexplicable decisions in recent memory, that they didn't even bring Hinch in for an interview. At that stage, Hinch was the absolute cherry on top. The White Sox are so good they're going to win in spite of LaRussa... but how much? The quick eye test in the postseason last year showed a very out-of-touch team whose management was missing an entire facet of what the Dodgers, Rays, Yankees, others have in terms of analytical aptitude. What happens instead? Hinch goes to a division rival, Detroit--and yes, the Tigers are in last place, but I shudder to think of what the Tigers organization would look like two years later, without him. He brought in a bunch of "those" kind of guys, top-to-bottom, and has added a certain, significant presence to both the team but also the front office.

The easy answer: Ego... what you said about LaRussa and certainly what we all know about Reindsdorf. Really, a move that I feel like doesn't get enough publicity for how it has/will impact the AL Central in the future.
