I'm not sure if or how government might intervene to get more formula where it needs to go, but this is a frightening story for lots of American parents.

I know part of it is supply chain related, but that giant recall of formula made in one plant in Michigan sure seems like the biggest driver of this shortage.

 

We did get a memo limiting sales of some formulas, much like we did toilet paper at the start of the covid crisis.

Complicated by lots of Americans moving over the last two years, further disrupting normal distribution patterns.

That said, it's terrifying to need formula and not have it. It's not as if the baby can eat something else.

I guess I'm just wondering if a) there's additional formula warehoused anywhere, and b) if there's a way Uncle Sam can deliver/distribute it to central points in the manner of disaster relief.
