It's the seniority system. Also, it's no surprise that Pelosi goes with her age peer group in the leadership. Human nature. Kathleen Clark, my congressperson, is I think the youngest member of leadership. She's in her 60s.

 

I don’t know the hierarchy of the House leadership, but the next Democratic leader should come from the Midwest or Pennsylvania or, if in a safe seat, the South.

Which means it’ll be Clark.

Good leaders are good leaders, whether they’ve served two terms or 12.
