Crosby getting concussed out this series while he’s playing incredible hockey is horrible.

Have they officially ruled it a concussion? Given his history, there is no way they can mess around with that. To go from a 2-0 lead in what could be the series clincher to losing Crosby and the game is just brutal, even more so when you get a better look at this hit to his head.

I don't think the Penguins win the series without Crosby. Hate to see an entire series turn on a hit like that.

The Caps were not expected to win this series, but shitting away a 3-0 lead on the road like that? Ugh. Florida finally got the fast and loose game it wanted.

I can at least guarantee at the end of this postseason that the Caps will have more Cups than the Cats.

Can't the Flames get a new arena? The lighting near the nets is terrible.

Edit: Ok, I read where an arena deal got bucked off.

Not officially. But when a guy with a history of them gets hit in the head and misses the rest of the game …

Oh, I have the same thought. I just thought something official had come out.

Of course, the Penguins fan in me is pissed. The Pens were up by two goals and seemingly on the way to clinching the series tonight before Crosby was taken out by an elbow to the head. Consider that Trouba also took a run at Guentzel's head earlier in the game and he has been suspended at least once in his career for a nasty elbow to another player's head, and there is plenty of justification for being pissed.

Just as a fan of hockey, I hate to see a series decided that way. As I already mentioned, I just can't see the Penguins winning this without Crosby.

Not even a hearing for Trouba's dirty hit that likely took Sidney Crosby out of the series. Mario Lemieux called the NHL a garage league 30 years ago. I think that was in reference to Adam Graves taking him out of the Penguins' series back then with a vicious slash on the wrist. I guess not much has changed.

He was going for the puck, he led with his shoulder not with an extended elbow, he didn't leave his feet, didn't travel an excessive distance. That was not a dirty hit. The question is whether he got him in the head accidentally, and you can't even tell that from the video, even though it was clear Crosby was shaken up. What you can tell is that Crosby had his head down and was in a vulnerable position, which is why 1) the league rightfully isn't doing anything, and 2) Why hockey players always talk about keeping your head up, because you are vulnerable when you don't.

It's a fast-paced game, and that was really unfortunate, all injuries like that are, but Trouba was not playing dirty.

Between the missed empty netter and last night's dumpster fire, "yeah but they weren't supposed to win the series!" isn't any less painful than traditional Caps letdowns.

I just saw the Trouba hit. It was unfortunate, but not dirty. Crosby starting going down before Trouba could complete the hit. Had he stayed upright, it's shoulder to shoulder. I don't like either of those teams, so don't accuse me of bias. But I have trouble in seeing that as a dirty hit. He didn't leave his feet. He didn't take a head shot.

No, watch it again. He extended the elbow. He absolutely made contact to the head. He had already made a run at Guentzel earlier in the game and he has a history of being suspended for an elbow to an opponent's head. It is unsurprising that a Rangers' fan would try to blame Crosby for getting an elbow to the head.

I get it. Rangers fans wanted their opportunity to whine about the goal that was disallowed in Game 1, that somehow the league was out to get them and preserve the Penguins. That is gone now. Trouba was passing by Crosby and saw the opportunity, so he extended his elbow to hit him in the head. That dirty hit saved the Rangers' season. It probably turned the entire series. Forget the conspiracy theories. I think the league just made a bad call.
