He does have a year left but it’s a player option. He can opt in and get $45m or he could opt out and force Philly’s hand with a long term deal.

I would never give this fat, slow, indifferent version of Harden a long term deal either. Then again, Morey is inexplicably enamored with the guy, and just traded Simmons, Drummond, Seth Curry and two number ones for him. So who knows?

Harden has made 227 million in just salary

What is more likely -- he adds 45 mil to that, probably dedicates himself and has a kickass season to get a monster deal or opts out and takes his chances right now? Because I can't imagine any good team is going to risk it after his performance the past couple months

He’d do it to force Philly’s hand. Either pay him what he wants or you traded all that for a half-season of Harden.

Sunken cost fallacy and all that.

I'm sure there is some economic model that would show the "risk" of paying Harden or Kyrie - or any other player who has a tendency to only show up when they feel like it. If either of these players were at the top of their games and you could count on them 90-95 percent of the time to perform that way - sure, pay them the money. But throw in the off-court headaches and I really don't see the value.

I watched for about 5 minutes. Harden couldn't dribble, and Miami knew it. They trapped him and he couldn't get through it. He looked like a HS senior who just learned how to dribble behind his back.

He will still get to the HOF as a coach. Don’t know why but he’s got great media reviews for a guy who’s choked more as a coach than anyone

he’s 9th all time wins. 37th in winning percentage. 4th in playoff wins. 42nd in playoff winning percentage. 1 championship.

I do not feel good about having to face Luka in an elimination game, even if it's in Phoenix. Also, I won't even be able to watch because it's probably going to be on a 3:30 EDT and I actually have to work Sunday. Ugh.

As a Nets fan I hope the Sixers sign Harden to a long term deal.

People couldn't stand how Harden played when he was good, so it's not surprising they're piling on him now that he's done. Guy got too old for his own style and certainly can't find another.

In addition to everything else, I think that Harden’s style becomes less unique when you face him 4-7 times in a short period.

Wasn't Harden just voted top 75 player ever?
