I can be more condescending if you like, woodwork. I'm told I have quite the talent for it.

I wasn't joking or being sarcastic when I referred to myself as a casual hockey fan. I have no idea how I responded to Matt Cooke's hit on Savard because I don't remember it. I had to look it up in response to your post. I was vaguely aware of the suspension of Malkin, but it is absolutely comical for you to talk about star privilege in the NHL. That the NHL didn't even hold a hearing over the hit on Crosby is yet another example of the fact that it doesn't exist. The league doesn't protect its stars that way. It never has. If Tom Brady took a hit to the head and suffered a concussion, the NFL would probably ban the offending player for life.

It's lucky for you that you don't feel the need to demonstrate fuck all because you can't. Thanks for playing. Have a lovely evening. Perhaps even watch the Rangers continue to steal the series.

By the way, no, I would not condone it if the Penguins took a cheap shot on Trouba or perhaps went after one of the Rangers' stars as retribution. I guarantee you would have seen the Rangers do exactly that if it was one of their guys who was felled by a dirty hit. Also by the way, Crosby is not the first Penguin taken out by a dirty blow to the head in this series. Lindgren took out Rakell by launching himself at the guy's head earlier in the series.

Saying your a casual fan is a pretty good way to duck having opinions on things.

“I have no recollection of a player on my team ending the career of a star player, but let me lecture everyone on something that happened two days ago.”

The star privilege relates to suspensions, Chris Pronger made it famous. You can Google him. He played for Philadelphia, who Google will tell you are a rival to your Penguins team. It’s hilarious that you claim an intimate knowledge of the inner workings of the league but as a Penguins fan you had no knowledge of Cooke and Savard.

Malkin was suspended a month ago and you are vaguely aware of it. I guess by claiming to be a fan, but not follow anything that actually happens, you can never be seen as condoning anything.

Despite the above avowals of ignorance, you are lecturing me on hockey. It takes brass balls to admit you know SFA about the sport but claim to be 100 per cent correct and fully informed about this one incident.

PS You don’t actually have a talent for being condescending. You are misinformed on that as well.

I have deleted my juvenile post directed at a member of this hockey brethren. No excuse other than it was a scratch that temporarily had to be itched (elbowed).

Not post-season playoffs, but Bruce Boudreau and Vancouver announced today he will return to coach the Canucks in the option year of his contract. Looks like Jim Rutherford was unwilling to go long-term ... yet. Story I read indicated Boudreau coached the team to a 106-point full-season pace after taking over from Travis Green.

Saying I'm a casual fan is being honest. I didn't claim to have an intimate knowledge of the inner workings of the league. That was kind of my point, that even a casual fan like me knows the league has always allowed garbage like what Trouba did. They invite it by refusing to deal with it. Hell, most coaches don't even want to talk about it. You can tell Sullivan is pissed, but he keeps refusing to comment.

I don't remember if I knew about Cooke's hit on Savard 12 years ago. Either I did and forgot it or I didn't notice at all. I honestly don't remember if I commented on it here or not. If you look at the NHL threads, I don't post on them much.

I don't watch much during the regular season. I watched maybe four games the entire regular season. I caught parts of a few others. I check the standings and look at what is going on with the Penguins here and there. But hey, I'll condemn Cooke right now. That was awful. I'd have to look up what Malkin did to get suspended. I haven't seen it. That you keep on trying to prop up your ridiculous claim about star privilege in the NHL shows that you may no even less about the league than I do.

I remember Pronger. Great player. Dirty one, too, if I remember correctly.

The Rangers won this series when Crosby was concussed out of it by a cheap shot. And that sucks. He was arguably the best player in the playoffs until that elbow to the face.
