Presumably the upset is over the manner and method of the "green means GO!" graphic representation.

 

I stand by my characterization of the CDC's map as compared to the others' ... they are all largely telling the same story.

 

OK, now that you've edited I guess I can see whence comes the consternation.

 

You'll get no argument from me.

 

For you and anyone else who rolls their eyes at Beau links but have not really watched them. Beau is a very bright guy. He is left leaning and makes no bones about it, but in a general sense that does not bleed over into 80% + of his stuff. He is careful about stating things in a neutral, fact based way. He did not serve in the U.S. armed forces but he has experience as a contractor.

This is a recent video which is typical of what he does most of the time. Here he is basically saying to his viewers "You can expect to hear about this. Here are the facts, what the coverage will likely be. This is not the game changer that you may fear it to be." Six minutes of your time. Whatever your mental picture of the guy is, it is unlikely to be this.

One of the things that sold me on him early is that he put out one of the best gun control messages that I know of. I'll link those vids and hope some of y'all watch. There are three fairly lengthy videos. The gun crowd is very quick to reject any such message and disregard messaging from from someone that they can regard as ignorant of firearms, if they use the word clip instead of magazine for example, or refer to a weapon as an automatic rather than semi-automatic. Beau spends the first two full videos establishing that he knows just exactly what he is talking about, that he is fully credible on the subject. He then delivers his gun control message in the third. None of these will proceed in an expected way. You can skip straight to the third, but some of the impact will be diluted because you miss the setup that he carefully builds. It's roughly forty minutes total, so it require a greater investment of your time, but I hope that you will take a look. I don't know of anyone else who has approached the problem in quite this way.

Note that these are early videos, and that they are substantially different in their presentation from the first link. He normally uses standard English, even though he is obviously a southerner. In these he's projecting more of a Good Ole Boy persona as he reaches out to those most influenced by gun culture.

I don't watch anything like that -- left, right, center or loon -- but if he blows your skirt up, as Briscoe Darling said, more power to ya.

P.S. Just to be clear ... you're aware of the allegations regarding his past, right?

 

I wouldn't want to answer that without knowing the allegations you are referring to. I understand that Beau is a persona of Justin King, a journalist with anarchist leanings, yes.

"Alien smuggling" is an interesting term. I didn't know the DOJ had jurisdiction outside the immediate solar system.
