I'd probably give Ayton whatever he wants, just because there isn't really much else they can do anyway, according to Spotrac. If they renounce Ayton and the rest of their potential FA, they're still $10M over the cap. Might as well sign him, and try to rearrange the pieces on the edges. Maybe Bridges continues to improve, maybe Booker getting shit on at the end of this series motivates him, maybe Ayton "settles" a bit if he actually has a long-term deal. They'll have about $10M to spend with the mid-level. Can that get them a more dependable back-up PG / SG than Payne?

 

I should probably add that it's a JaVale McGee jersey, which probably guarantees he signs somewhere else next season.
