For me, Botterill and Tocchet have been the most insightful studio analysts and Botterill seems cognizant of trying avoid cliches. For whatever reason, haven't seen as much of ESPN's studio programming as TNT's, but Weeksie seemed to be stifled a bit compared to how I remember him on NHL Network.

ABC/ESPN has the Stanley Cup Final, correct? Seems like Sean McDonough is a very prepared professional but the lead hockey voice of your network? Granted, Doc spoiled a lot of us.

Yes. They'll alternate from here through the contract. I have issues with Sean McDonough, but mine are mostly because his call of the 2015 Michigan-Michigan State "There's a problem with the snap!" game is seared into my consciousness and not in a good way.

I've heard some barking that Gary Thorne was interested in working in some capacity but given that I believe he still has a full-time MLB gig, that seemed a little bit hopeful.

Honestly, I'll take anyone other than Buccigross.

One thing I've noticed this year compared to the NBCSN era is that in the early rounds, NBCSN would just punt a series or two out West, especially if it involved a Canadian team, and pick up the Hockey Night in Canada/Sportsnet feed. Normally Chris Cuthbert, who I think has succeeded Jim Hughson as HNIC's lead guy. For sickos like myself, I would have loved being able to watch the Battle of Alberta in the original Canadian.

    I find McDonough mind-numbingly dull.

He's not ESPN, but the best of who is doing these games is Kenny Albert, IMO. His voice used to annoy me, but he's a real pro. When Panarin scored the OT goal to finish the Pittsburgh series, he stayed silent and let what was happening on the screen speak for itself. Like 2 or 3 minutes of silence. It was perfect.

Remember a few weeks ago during the Nashville series when someone mentioned Mark Kiszla as homer media and I said usually all he does is rile up in a negative way that home fan base? Well, go check out some of his interactions over the past day.

John Brophy was with the Hampton Roads Admirals, and the Greensboro Monarchs had Jeff Brubaker. Plus, great rivalies with Roanoke, Winston-Salem and then Charlotte. It wasn't always pretty, but it was fun.

He's been clowning it up for many, many years.

And when he digs in, he doesn't let go. Sometimes for days. It is almost sad, but it obviously works for his brand some how.

He's an utter douchebag. Never been a fan. But like you said, that's his shtick. I mean, if Vic Lombardi is calling you out -- rightly -- you've got a problem. Then again, that means the Post is relevant, which it hasn't been for many years.

I'm not a huge puckhead, but have watched a fair amount of the first two games of the Oilers-Flames series and I'm enthralled. This thing has been insane so far.
Flames go up 3-0 in the first six minutes of Game 1, blow a four-goal lead and still win.
Flames go up 2-0 in the first six minutes of Game 2, blow the lead and now they're down 5-3 after two quick breakaway goals in the third period (one of them short-handed). Three goals, combined, have been waved off.
    Frickin' nuts.

In case you’re wondering why Game 3 of the Battle of Florida is Sunday afternoon, Kane Brown and Walker Hayes are at Amelie Arena tonight

Besides two guys who together have four last names, who are they?
