I have a feeling they'll tiptoe their way back to be almost .500 by October. A very very slight improvement on last year, not a full-scale retrenchment. Greene will be back in a couple weeks, I'd expect Torkelson will go down to Toledo about June 1 for a 30-day get-your-shit-together sabbatical, then return at the All-Star break ready to go.

Meadows should be OK by July too, and even Miguel Cabrera has been hitting entirely adequately lately. So my bet is the Tigers will slowly creep their way back to decency by the end of the season. I don't think they've got the 35-15 two-month run in them to get into the playoff race, but 30-20 is doable.

Next year, it'll depend on how many of the arms get healthy, and how healthy.

Until tonight, Tarik Skubal was the only member of Detroit's Opening Day starting rotation not to land on the IL. He got hit in the shin by a 100 mph comebacker to end the fifth and limped off the field. The Guardians then scored four runs on the next four pitches against Jacob Barnes.

It's May 20 and the Tigers are about to go to 13-26.

Tarik Skubal, the one bright spot in the Tigers’ dismal season, threw five scoreless innings before taking a line shot off his left shin and leaving the game
Reliever Jacob Barnes gave up four runs and four hits on four pitches

Orioles promote Rutschman to the big-league club. That'll give me a reason to watch tonight.

Rutschman just tripled for his first major-league hit. :)

Okay, that looked more like a double and an error, but why quibble about the kid's first hit?
