I’ve got Bruce Hornsby and the Noisemakers, The War on Drugs, Avett Brothers, Spoon, Arcade Fire and Jason Isbell in the queue.

    I’m calling it Dadrockapalooza.

I’m making up for lost time.

The grandparents asked for more weekends with the tiny budding three-year old sociopath. They’re getting them.

Got my first concert tickets since Covid started. Going to see Echo and the Bunnymen in August.

Bringing my 17 year old, who will be older than I was the first time I saw them.

Mrs. Huggy is a huge Beatles fan and wanted to see Ringo Starr and his All Starr Band at a casino up here. We got the tickets two years ago, we are finally going next Saturday.

He and Barbara came into the dental office where my wife used to work. Before them, there was a youngster who had to be put out for his procedure. He was still a bit woozy when his Mom helped him leave through the waiting room. Ringo said, "I want what he's having."
    Smart, funny, friendly.

I can hear that in Ringo's voice right now!

The Zombies have a concert coming up in my area this summer. I was never much of a fan, but daughter wants to see them, and I have to say they sound pretty good on recent YouTube videos. Colin Blunstone's voice has held up surprisingly well.

His version of Billy Joel's "Shameless" is on the short list of covers that are better than the original. I'd bet Billy agrees.

Steely Dan at the Hollywood Bowl tonight. TBH I only went because I had a free ticket and while the musicians were tight and Fagen still has his voice, they have morphed into a jam band (his words) comprised of 70 year old dudes and off-key “Danettes” so, meh. And I thought it odd no one mentioned Walter Becker at all. Glad I went to my first concert since Covid.

My brother says he's going to get me to a Bruce show this time around. (We went to probably 30 in the tours from 1999-2012.) I imagine that may be my swan song as far as major concerts are concerned.

Lost in the history of StarFam family lore, on July 29, 1989, I took all 4 of my sibs on a rain-swept road trip from Michigan to Alpine Valley in Wisconsin to see the first incarnation of Ringo Starr and the All-Starr Band.

With no cell phones, no GPS, no Google Maps, no nuthin, we drove for hours and hours through the back roads of Wisconsin in a driving storm before we finally arrived to see the last three or four songs of the show.

So the bunch of us may go see him again this September/October.

EDIT: That was actually a hell of a good lineup for the first All-Starr Band.

Ringo Starr & His All Starr Band Setlist at Alpine Valley Music Theatre, East Troy

(I believe we arrived during "Nothing From Nothing" by Billy Preston because I remember him dancing in front of the keyboards. Although we were arriving in a complete clown show, soaked to the skin, with other fans streaming out the exits and rain gusting in underneath the sides of the canopy.)

Agreed. It's not one of Billy's better tracks, but this version is, IMO, better than the original.

Ringo's show at Casino Rama last night, a couple hours north of Toronto, was very entertaining. My wife is a massive Beatles fan so she was just thrilled with a chance to see one of them live. As a huge Johnny Winter fan it was great for me to have a chance to see his brother.

Justin Hayward last night at the Coach House in San Juan Capistrano. Sang most of his best Moody Blues songs. At age 75 he still has his voice, still entertaining. The place was packed 90 minutes before the start, though it holds only 300-400. Totally enjoyable concert.
