If the Avalanche figure out a way to close out the Blues, the scores of every game in the Western Conference finals may be something like 8-7.

Trotz will have his pick of jobs. Why would he go to that shitshow of an organization?

Rangers game was tough to watch last night. I want to criticize, put it entirely on them, but Carolina is a tough, relentless team. They were like a brick wall last night and the Rangers looked tired. I thought going into the series that it was a bad matchup for the Rangers, and I actually have been encouraged by how competitive they are making it. But they are not there yet. Close, it's not a total mismatch, but they need to find a way to get through a team like in the playoffs that doesn't give an inch.

In the Pittsburgh series when they were down 3-1, I thought, "Well, they CAN do this." I don't see the Rangers winning two games now, even if they ride the home advantage on Saturday, I don't see them winning one in Carolina. But I am rooting.

As boring as the NBA playoffs have been, the NHL playoffs have been super fun. I have shifted my focus and am on the Oilers' bandwagon the rest of the way.

What little I have seen of Hurricanes-Rangers shows me that Trouba is exactly who I thought he was. This is true even when I don't have a rooting interest. He threw another elbow to an opposing player's head, a nastier one on Domi. He also took quite the dive last night to draw a bullshit cross checking penalty.

    I hope you're correct, obviously.

Problem is that while special teams have been solid in Raleigh, they've been anything but on the road. Worse, while they've maximized matchups on home ice - a primary reason why they haven't lost at home during this postseason - they've yet to overcome matchup issues on the road - a primary reason they've yet to take a road game.

The winner gets Tampa. All they've done is win the last two Cups. Gets no easier.

With all due respect to the Blues, pulling for the Avs because Colorado-Edmonton in the West could be every bit as up-and-down as the Battle of Alberta was.

It's gratifying to read and I agree. It was difficult to be objective about his departure from WSH in 2018. I hope he has his pick of offers. He was the eminence gris of NSH for so long, maybe too long. Will the right organization make the right offer? We'll see.

Just like he was at his previous stop?

    1) That hit on Domi was clean. Complete nonsense take, yet again. No penalty on Trouba, and in fact the only minor penalty called was on the guy who jumped him to fight him, as in, "You shouldn't have to fight someone after you lay a clean hit on someone." Trouba laid hard open-ice checks on people all season. Clean ones. I watched him line up people all season long, and he is really good at keeping it clean and legal. That was a perfectly clean hit.
    2) That cross check was a dive. It was a cross check, but Troube embellished it to get a call. Five years ago that never would have gotten called. Even with the emphasis on calling cross checking penalties this year, I'd say 6 times out of 10 that wouldn't have been called this year. Trouba's acting job helped it along.
