Always disappointing. I know the NBA and ESPN / ABC / Disney wouldn't allow it, given the price they pay for rights, but I wish Inside the NBA just did postgame shows for nights they don't even broadcast the game.

Or just say F it. NBA has been on TNT for decades. People know where to find the games. Give them Games 2 and 3 of the Finals.

I really did not expect the Warriors to make another run like this. Good for them. And their front office did one hell of a job to keep it rolling.

To me, there isn't a huge difference between ESPN and TNT at this point - like if you have one in your cable package, you almost certainly have the other. I'm a filthy millennial (technically) and have neither, so I'll probably go to a bar tomorrow to catch the Celtics game.

Finals are on ABC, so they don't want to give up that extra vig of being on a "network," as 1990s as that sounds.

What's funny about sports is that with the end of the Mavs season, there's an outpouring of enthusiasm and praise for how JKidd got the Mavs to improve. I'm not doubting that but it made me think "wait, the coach who just left, that was Rick Carlisle, who I thought was almost universally held up as one of the best in the NBA." So how do you reconciled that? Is Kidd better than Carlisle? Or was Carlisle just stale and they needed a change? Or is Carlisle just done at this point? (I thought and still think Carlisle's a tremendous coach.)

Kidd hired a tremendous staff. It's been mentioned on several podcasts that I listen to that he surrounded himself with some really good assistant coaches.

I think there's something to the idea that maybe Luka needed a different voice in the locker room. But also, the Mavs were probably a bit unlucky last year, and a bit luckier this year. They slightly regressed on offensive, improved on defense, but the net plus-minus was about +1.5. I don't think making it to the conference finals should cloud their judgement and make them think they're better than they are, though, kind of like the Hawks did following the 2021 playoffs. I'd still consider the Mavs a tier lower than the Celtics, Warriors, Heat, Bucks tier of teams. They need more of a true secondary option besides Luka. (Allen Iverson is still the last guy to lead the league in usage rate and make an NBA finals.)

Hey, finally a decent game here, although the officiating has been as spotty as the other games.
