Return of the Jedi started its life as Lucas’s draft of Apocalypse Now, and at one point David Lynch was hired to direct. That is a movie I want to see:
    — Kyle Maclaclan as an imperial officer on Endor saying, “I love the smell of burnt Ewok in the morning. It smells like…victory.”
    — Dean Stockwell as Bib Fortuna introducing Jabba by singing into a light bulb.
    — Darth Vader really being a demon named Bob who corrupted Anakin Skywalker
    — mon mothma reminding the rebel pilots that “the emperor don’t surf.”
    — Dennis Hopper as the emperor telling Luke, “the other day Darth Vader looked at me and said ‘did you ever notice that the middle word in force is or?’”
    — or this:
Emperor: What kind of force do you like?
    Luke: Light side
Emperor: Light side? Fuck that shit! dark side! That's what you'll use tonight!

The first two episodes haven't been bad but also a little horrifying to watch. It's like, how long can they go on strip-mining this IP? Right now, the mountain's been leveled and there's not a stream within miles you'd dare to drink from.

The two-part premier delved heavily into Obi Wan Kenobi’s post-Order 66 PTSD. For 10 years he was just trying to be forgotten and then he gets dragged back into the galaxy at large, and he doesn’t want to go along.

    Solid start.

It's horrifying that they keep digging into Star Wars? Shrugs. They are going to keep doing it until people stop watching. The shows have an audience, and it isn't as if the quality is crap. The Mandalorian is very good. Boba Fett was not, but I think people still watched. Kenobi is good so far. The script isn't bad. They have a decent mix of old and new characters and an outstanding actor in the lead role. I'm at the point with Star Wars where I don't need to watch everything they put out there, but I'll give most things a chance. I was about to bail on Boba Fett until they snuck in two episodes of The Mandalorian. This one is off to a better start, and keeping it to six episodes seems like a good decision.

Of course, Disney+ seems to be working toward the same route as HBO with its 9 p.m. Sunday slot. They try to always have at least one new show starting right after the last one ends. There was a small gap between this and Moon Knight, with Dr. Strange coming out during that time. I believe this one will lead up closely to the start of Ms. Marvel. Disney is going to milk Marvel and Star Wars until we all stop watching, and maybe a little while after that.

Finally watched. Think the first two episodes are great. With just a six-episode run, there shouldn’t be a dull moment the rest of the way if they stay on their game.

The final “eyes” scene has me pretty hyped for the next one.

I need to go back and rewatch, without the kid in the room. I missed half of what everyone else here saw. I'm worried that the entire run will be him being chased, extricating himself, then being chased again.

Darth's Christmassy new look is interesting.

His action scene last night wasn't quite up to Rogue One standards, but it was sobering to see him just casually kill civilians -- kinda just because he can.

Not sure if you're into comics, but if you ever get a chance to read the fairly recent "Darth Vader" series from Marvel it's well worth the time. There have been a couple of series, about 25-30 issues apiece, that cover different periods between the movies. The second one picks up right after Revenge of the Sith. Vader suddenly appears on the scene, no one knows who he is, and he has to make a name for himself in the Empire's hierarchy while also learning how to go full Sith. It's the badass Vader you're looking for.

This was definitely was a Vader teezer for the end-of-series showdown. Establishes how evil, ruthless and revenge-seeking he is and how weak Obi-Wan is right now.

Gotta assume that Obi-Wan gets the upper hand in the end of this as they'll want to match up the New Hope line "When I left you I was but the learner, now I am the master..." from Vader.

Is there a lot of fan service in the first three episodes? Sure. But as a fan being serviced, I'm really enjoying it.

I was a little unclear how the fire wall stopped Vader and the storm troopers from charging across to nab Obi-Wan. I guess whatever chemical/compound that was spilled and ignited was too hot/toxic? Only little quibble from me.
