Maybe it has to do with the reporting by states and localities? Instead of regular updates, There is one big data dump?

Several Trumpist states, if I recall correctly, don’t report on Sunday.

Massachusetts, hardly a Trumpist state, only does reports Monday-Friday, or when there are holidays, Tuesday-Friday.

Percentages look more dramatic coming off a lower baseline.

Deaths lag hospitalizations by several weeks. They're low now, but will rise in proportion to the hospitalizations and will remain high after the hospitalizations recede.

I don't trust the case rate much anymore, as testing has been curtailed so much.

Subway survey: Maybe 40 percent of riders wearing masks this morning. Probably closer to one-third. I see one person in medical scrubs not wearing one. If he isn’t, what’s the point for the rest of us?

One-way masking can still be effective, depending on type of mask and how you wear it. It depends on your particular comfort level and how afraid you are of being infected. You can't contol what other people do, just do your own thing.

Just spent five days in isolation, and we have at least one or two more to go. Everyone here has it, and the worst we’ve seen is a little fatigue and stomachaches. That includes the 70-something unvaxxed person who insists on living here.

I’m not sure any of the five of us would’ve known we had it if my son hadn't insisted on being tested last week.

I ran 20 miles in 48 hours before I even knew I had an active infection.

Update: I just tested myself, and I’m negative.

I have no idea how I escaped it. This house is literally crawling with COVID.

That's because the variant these days is a cold, if that
