No such thing as a “big” series in June. But Mets-Dodgers starting tonight is a good one.

Mets have feasted on a shockingly bad NL East. But deGrom hasn’t thrown a pitch yet and Scherzer is out at least another month.

Good small sample measuring stick on deck.

There's this thing with Ohtani and Yankee Stadium.

Yanks are lighting him up early again. Carpenter and Torres with HRs; Carpenter's had a 107-mph exit velocity. It was ... uh ... yanked into the right-field deck.

EDIT: Now Judge with a bomb. 3-0 in the third. Ohtani 47 pitches in without a swing and miss.

Actually, there's this thing with at least 1 or 2 Angels per game who have stepped onto the mound over the last week and a half.

To be fair, that name and that mustache probably shouldn’t be mixed.

Not now. He'll finish out the eighth and grab some pine.

    My favorite …

“In 1996, Henderson’s first season with San Diego, he boarded the team bus and was looking for a seat. Steve Finley said, “You have tenure, sit wherever you want.” Henderson looked at Finley and said, “Ten years? Ricky’s been playing at least 16, 17 years.” ”

And then of course there was the hoax story about a conversation between Rickey and John Olerud:

John Olerud revealed the truth behind the amazing 'Rickey Henderson story'

Story wasn't true at all, but doggone it should have been.

Of course, the story I had heard, different from the one above, was that the conversation took place when they were on the Mets, and they had played together previously in Toronto for half a season. Supposedly, it was a story planted by Mets players to a couple of local writers, and then a few days later, they had ESPN Sportscenter on the clubhouse TV, heard the anchors tell that story, and everyone in the
    clubhouse broke out in laughter.
