Apparently this thing is pretty useless on the Ukrainian battlefield, but I have to think it'd give you some cushion in rush hour traffic.

It could also be analogous to the Brusilov Offensive, Kasserine Pass, the Battle of the Bulge, or Tet — offensives that had tremendous initial success, but were soon blunted and wound up as disastrous, backbreaking failures for the attackers.

What's going to be needed is the modern-day reverse version of the Berlin Airlift. Every train car, every lorry trailer available in Europe needs to be loaded with grain and shipped overland. The winter wheat harvest should just now be starting in Ukraine.

Could we make this our Lusitania moment? Have cargo planes go in to get the grain on a mission of mercy for Africa and when Russia shoots one down, there’s an excuse to implement a no fly. And when one of our pilots gets shot at, we need to take out the air batteries. All we’re doing is helping feed the world and not trying to harm Russia so Putin can’t globally save face on a conflict expansion.

The largest cargo planes in the world only can carry the equivalent of 12 fully-loaded 18-wheelers each.

Of course, the largest cargo ships can carry up to 60,000 tons, which is equal to 1,500 trucks. That's a lot of catch-up, so let's get cracking.

Break the blockade and use cargo ships. Quit halfassing it.

The point wouldn’t be to actually get grain out, the point would be to dare Putin to react. When he does, he’s in a world of hurt of his own making and we can plead innocent.

If the point is to start WW III, is it a good point?

You’re not wrong. And I know it isn’t going to/shouldn’t happen just for that. But a thought.

But who would join Russia? China? Maybe, but I don’t think so. Maybe some of the smaller European countries like Bulgaria?

The Balkans are out, so are most of the former Soviet satellite states.

Turkey? They’ve been supplying Ukraine with drones.

There's support for Russia in Serbia.

As a Bulgarian told me last week, they fought in four wars and been on the wrong side each time. They'll abstain.
