China, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, etc. - this is exactly how reputation laundering works.

Still don't care about that. I care about the golf (a little).

Not sure why you'd be proud of that, but OK.

Look, you can virtue-signal till you're blue in the face. I don't have to hide in shame because I don't care about the political angles you do. That's ridiculous.

It is also possible that the big names under 40 joining the LIV have calculated the thing does have a short shelf life, so grab the money now and if it goes toes up, eventually they'll be back on the Tour if they desire.

The guys referenced -- P and Bryson -- have had serious beefs with the PGA Tour, whether it's through Rules situations (P) or equipment kerfuffles (Bryson). Neither are particularly beloved. Zero surprise that they'd jump at the chance to play elsewhere. DP World Tour isn't lucrative enough financially to jump. LIV is.

Rickie is more interesting, because he still has a pretty good fan base despite his on-course struggles in recent years. But he's also losing significant access to good events due to poor play, so I can see why he'd rather take the money.

To the overarching point that the PGA Tour needs a shakeup? I'd agree with that. It's very stale. Just week after week after week of 72-hole stroke play events at boring TPC courses, save for two events a year. I am semi-curious to how the whole team aspect of LIV will shake out, though the team names and logos are comical at best.

The list of courses on Tour that are actually interesting to watch is pretty small: Riviera, Kapalua (only for winter dreaming purposes), Pebble Beach, Harbour Town .... that's about it. Everything else is just cookie cutter.

First, the IOC, then FIFA, now golf. Laundering isn't cheap.

That's a two-way street. Now go have a nice "This Is Why People Think Woke Is a Bad Word" Day.

What does 'woke' have to do with anything?

Do you think every moral or ethical judgment anywhere at any time has to do with being 'woke?'

Stop advancing an argument you aren't going to win. I expressed intellectual indifference at your judgment; you're sputtering. Move on.
