I genuinely feel sick about how much I thought this man was an excellent leader/human in the hours/days/months after 9/11. I won't take away from what he did in that time. He was and remains, to me, a hero for his leadership. That heroism stands for all time. But, fuck, what happened to him in the years since? I hate that he has become such a lunatic because, despite my political differences with him, I held him in quite high esteem in the early aughts. Now? I fucking hate that fucking fuck.
