It is not hard to draft Stamkos at 1 and Hedman at 2.

    What does this mean?

I’m assuming it relates to the fact that many coaches seem to default to low risk plugs for crucial games. But I’m still recovering from the Michel Therrien era.

Of course but he still deserves to be mentioned

But I don’t think McKegg played all playoffs, so this seems like a fairly random comment out of the blue. Unless I’m missing something.

The draft gems are getting Palat in the seventh round. Finding Tyler Johnson and Yanni Gourde as undrafted free agents. Trading Ben Bishop for Erik Cernak. Getting Kucherov in the second round. Point and Killorn were third rounders.

Even the big draft mishap, Jonathan Drouin, was flipped into Sergachev.

I don’t think Brian Lawton was GM for any of those, was he?

No, not missing anything. Someone brought up McKegg, and I just blurted what I have thought every time he was the lineup the last few years .... while more talented players sat. McKegg plays hard. And you can put him on your PK. And he will do absolutely nothing beyond that to win a game for you. He illustrates the difference between a known quantity that has no upside whatsoever and someone who might win a game for you but also might make a mistake.

But he’s got a great name — though it would be better if he spelled his first name “Gregg.”

On a fan board I look at occasionally, he's just "The Kegger" in the comments.
