As for your little aside about my religious beliefs…I’m the annoying-to-conservative-evangelical “third way” Christians who leans more toward understanding/wanting to understand the progressive worldview. (Some of which I hold.)

As for schools…it’s not just pandemic, but behavior. (Which is in part informed by the pandemic.) Teachers are walking away.

At this point they're pretty well stuck with him.

 

Which is more than a little informed by the behavior of the parents. I think at this point that there's a lot more bad behavior on the part of right leaning parents as a group, and I don't think the behavior of the liberals is why most teachers that are cutting loose are quitting.

And doing fine damn job of it. But using the slow boil method. Test the water with some charter schools. Mass applications? Continue. Since the charter "lottery" is based often on teacher's kids first, hire teachers that align with the demigog. Still public money, still a "public" education with a twist. And my twist here is, I'm so glad my grandson got accepted into a charter Montessori 1st grade class. And his parents are both public educators, one at elementary level and one at high school level. Both in high pay districts but being asked to be statisticians as well as teachers.
