I enjoyed showing my faknow the last time I visited
And they're gonna take all your guns, too.

Any more talking points for today?

The oil companies sure have done pretty well under an administration that supposedly was going to kill it, wouldn't you say?

The current administration was in charge in the summer of 2020?

I’m pro gun control, for one thing.

for another, it is the clear goal - the clear, enthusiastic goal! - of progressives to get America off of fossil fuels as quickly and as much as possible. Who argues that? Not Democrats - they think it’s a great idea. (And perhaps it is!)

But, when you make that the goal, it’s more than reasonable to expect the industry you’re replacing to feel zero incentive to help out - or do anything but protect its own interests - on the way to a new energy future.

Yes, Big Oil is selfish. Lots of industries are. Lots of people are. And they’re not all Republicans.

We know why refineries closed or slowed down production during that time. There is little incentive to open some of them back up.

of course, in that Twitter thread there are several refineries that more recently announced plans of closure or closed.

Take a little walk to the edge of town
    And go across the park
    Where the gallows loom
    Like a bird of doom
    As it shifts and cracks
Where secrets lie in the border fires
    In the humming wires
    Hey man, you know
    You're never coming back

Past the ellipse, past the stand
Past the windows, past the dome
    On a gathering storm
    Comes an unsteady crazy man
In a long black coat with
    A red right hand

He'll wrap you in his arms
Tell you that you've been a good boy
    He'll rekindle all the dreams
It took you a lifetime to destroy
He'll reach deep into the hole
Where you should have a soul
But there won't be a single thing that you can do

    He's a god, he's a man
    He's a crook, he's a psycho
    They're whispering his name
    Through this disappearing land
    But hidden in his coat
    Is a red right hand

I suppose the decision might depend on how many millions you make annually off of that employee's contributions.

There is nothing stopping Big Oil from investing in alternate energy technology. It could not be more obvious that the field is going to become huge and make a lot of money.

Walk outside. Maybe it's not 98 degrees where you live, but most of the country has hit 95+ all week - and it isn't even summer yet.

I'm sure the fat, lazy fucks in GQP world will make a heyday out of this, but all cyclists have done this dozens of times...your feet get stuck in your pedal cages. If you haven't fallen over at a red light and made a fool of yourself, you can't call yourself a MAMIL.

The all-purpose alternative energy punchline is always

    Greta Thunberg on a sailboat.
