It's running through some of my circles right now. A wedding I couldn't go to the weekend before last was one definite culprit. Interestingly, about 20 people who were there are getting their butts kicked by it right now, but 3 people I know (and perhaps the only three who were there) who wore masks the whole time and stayed outside for chunks of the time, have not gotten it.

I’ve gotten a little flip about things lately. I missed it until now, I’m never getting it. Still think more likely than not that most people will get it, but I’m rethinking making quick trips into the store without a mask.

I haven't worn a mask since I took mine off in March leaving Dulles Airport. Not saying this to be anti-mask, just saying it's the reality where I live. I see some folks in the grocery store still masking, but not many.

I was exposed last week and it ran through some of my husband's family, but none of them got very sick. And neither he nor I got it.

I've had some struggles recently beyond the heart surgery. I keep losing weight, which was fun for a while but disturbing now that I'm no longer trying. And I have pretty significant balance issues. We're a pair - I struggle to get down the steps and my old dog with her bad hips struggles to get up the steps. I've been doing vestibular therapy, which helps to a degree. And I told the PT, it feels like we keep wiping up the spill without fixing the cause of the leak.

Been to two neurologists and I got different answers. I've taken a million tests. One of them thinks this is an aftereffect of COVID. I test regularly and have never tested positive but he thinks I may have had it at some point and not known it. He said a lot of people have it without symptoms and then have trouble later. I may well be one of them. In really encouraging news, he said the balance issues may never go away and I have to rely on the PT to manage them.

    I got old FAST.

The good news, my heart is going great guns. All the tests I've had done post-surgery have returned positive results. So I got that going for me.

Didn’t know about the heart surgery. Sending good thoughts your way.

Probably 20 percent of people at my local wear them. You’re far from an anti-masker and I agree with you: Most of us have given up avoiding it. I am not a big social butterfly, but isolation that involves interactions with only a couple people is frustrating.

The only place I wear a mask is Publix, and I’m one of the few
I had a rare meal inside a restaurant last week but I almost always eat outside
Fortunately you can do that in Florida
    Feel better, Moddy

I still wear a mask if it's a place I'm going to have to take it off anyway - For example, if I pop into a grocery store or CVS, but if I'm at a coffee shop or grabbing a sandwich, well, no point there. My wife got it two weeks ago, but (AFAIK) I didn't, thanks to isolating at night and testing regularly.

I didn't recall heart surgery, either. Best wishes to you, Moddy. (From a guy who had triple bypass 18 years ago.)
