Why wouldn't you get paid if you're him? Plus, if you're still working your way back, you just joined a series with a limited schedule and three guaranteed rounds. Would it be more noble for him to miss cuts or finish T45 on the PGA Tour?

I do think he needs to lose some bulk. That formula is proving to have a very short shelf life.

I’m not looking at it from his POV. Just from what he adds to LIV.

I hope he adds a future fistfight or nine with DeChambeau.

Koepka missed the cut at the Masters last year then went T2, T4, T6 in the other three majors. No, he hasn't been good this year, but I think he's a player who needs focus, and between getting married (and apparently partying like a fucking college student throughout the whole process) and battling back from injuries, his level of GAF has been zilch.

Seems to me that the answer for the PGA Tour is to unmarry the fall series events from the FedEx Cup standings. Make that series for up and comers and players fighting to hold onto their cards. Pop it on Golf Channel. Sickos will watch golf no matter who's playing. The reason guys won't take a full offseason is because they'll fall too far behind in the FedEx standings if they blow off the fall schedule. Like other sports, golf needs to go the fuck away for a little while. Would add more intrigue to the traditional start of the schedule in January, too.

Bryson, Brooks and Reed together for the first round in Portland would be smart. Lean into your black hat-ness, LIV.

    Great plan. Really, it is.

Sounds partially right. They'll have some big-money events in the fall, possibly around the world, for top players. Maybe some fall events for lesser players to improve their status for the next season (hello, Sanderson Farms!). Calendar returning to normal with the January start, hallelujah.

The PGA Tour's plan: eight limited-field tournaments with $20 million purses. Three in the fall, played overseas, open to the top 50 in points (PGA Tour points). The other five spread throughout the regular season which will run through the end of 2023. Non top-50s go into fall tournaments that help determine their status for the following season.

So a similar series to LIV in money without the team aspect and the extra $5 million. I'd expect LIV to respond by kicking their purses to $30 million or more. No reason they can't or wouldn't.

Chamblee warned the PGA Tour last week not to get into a spending battle with LIV, which has bottomless pockets. Still, they had to do something.

The Tour doesn't have to match LIV dollar for dollar. They just have to add enough to keep most Tour pros comfortable with the status quo, which so far, most are.
