    Tots and pears, Moddy!

Still masking and distancing here. I have never confronted anyone about masking and tend to simply move away from people who get too close. Well, that predates COVID, but anyway... People, people, people, quit taking everyone else's choices as an affront to your freedom. Mask up, don't mask up. I really don't care what you do. Quit worrying so much about what I'm wearing.

Plumber came over yesterday, a week late because he had Covid. Said his doctor treated it with hydroxychloroquine and ivermectin, had few symptoms and no fever. I asked if he was vaccinated and he said no.

"Oh, no," he said. "I know people who are vaccinated and still got the virus."

HCQ and ivermectin? Was his doctor Dr. Nick?

My entire household (four vaccinated, one unvaccinated) got it in the last month, and the only one who had any more than mild symptoms was my (vaccinated and boosted) wife.

My elderly, unvaccinated and spectacularly unhealthy mother-in-law felt practically nothing but fatigue for a day or two. It was barely a blip in either of my kids.

Also, as if we didn’t already know temperature checks are useless as a preventive measure, we had five confirmed cases spanning the course of three and a half weeks and not a single fever to report in anyone at any time.

He's a plumber. I'm guessing it was more like Drano.

I thought fever wasn’t a good metric, aside from the early waves before the variants took hold? Neither one of us had a fever when we caught Covid recently.

Despite being vaxed and double boosted, I recently had Covid. First day of symptoms was a super scratchy throat, next morning I had a low grade fever and sore throat. My first home test was negative but a second test the next day was positive. I had a fever for three days. After discussing with My Brother the M.D., I decided to get a prescription for Plaxovid, which I started on my fourth symptomatic day. I don’t know if it was the drugs or coincidence but my fever was gone the next day and I felt totally fine the day after that, other than a lingering cough. After everything I had read and heard about Omicron, I was surprised at how sick I was.

Going to be weird traveling to California in two weeks. Haven't been inside an airplane in 11 years, for one. Haven't been wearing masks anywhere except one doctor's office, for another.

We're packing ones to use on the plane, for BART, for Uber/Lyft, the church where the memorial will be held and restaurants. I think the only time we'll have them off is inside the hotel room.

It’s been pretty well established everywhere except every damn place my kids go, where temp checks are the only preventive measure they have in place anymore, since our governor outlawed mask mandates.
