We don't know that for sure. The top dogs Rahm, Spieth, Rory have pledged their loyalty, but they could all quit golf tomorrow and never worry about money. Rahm got plenty of media love for his press conference last week where he said $200 million wouldn't change his life -- easy to say for a guy who easily has $50 million already.

The bulk of the tour is guys like Talor Gooch (at the high end) and Pat Perez (middle/low), and there's two that bolted for LIV. I bet a lot of their peers are pretty darned jealous, but LIV can't take everyone and still play 48 at a time. There will be more players announced after the Travelers, guys who were just waiting for others to take the heat first.

Maybe (probably) my logic is way off, but I don't see the Champions Tour sustaining. Guys in Koepka, DeChambeau and DJ's age range don't need to keep playing for purses into their 40s and 50s. Nicklaus was motivated to be the best ever. Tiger wanted Jack's record. Like Rahm, what is he, 27? He could retire after the Open, invest wisely and his family is set for generations. He says he loves the competition but let's see in 10 years' time. In Koepka and DJ, especially, I see guys who look at the non-majors where - gasp - they have to make the cut to make money - as a waste of time. For Phil, it's one last cash grab and for the others - I think Na epitomizes this group - it's more money than they ever hope to win grinding it out on one of the PGA Tours, and if/when the LIV fizzles they got theirs.

Are there women caddies on the women’s tour?

The Champions Tour was a great idea when you had Arnie and Jack playing
Chi Chi was a great story but a lot of lesser names/club pros look at the Champions as a chance to cash in later in life
Phil stuck his toe in but probably will ignore it now
Tiger’s too beat up and he doesn’t need it
It doesn’t have a great future

Steven Aiker is the current Champions Tour money leader. And yes, if you knew Steven Aiker made the cut in the 2012 Open and 2013 U.S. Open, you know that much more about him than I do.

He has four career Korn Ferry Tour wins, the most recent coming in 2014 (six years before it became the Korn Ferry Tour). He's been a petroleum engineer and carpet cleaner to make ends meet. But he's made more on tour this season than in his entire career as a golf professional.

Steven Aiker and Paul Goydos and Thongchai Jaidee are the guys who benefit from a Champions Tour. But I can't see the PGA Tour propping it up without better players.

    1. Replace the Champions Tour with a Seniors Skills Competition.

Hard to imagine now, but 35 or so years ago (pre-Eldrick) the then-Senior PGA Tour played almost 40 events a year and could rival the PGA Tour for popularity. I can still hear announcer Jim Kelly's voice on ESPN calling those events because they were always on.

I'm sure Steven Alker is a nice guy, but does anyone buy a ticket to watch him play golf? No. I'm guessing he could walk up and down Broadway for a week and never get stopped for a picture or autograph.

We're about to work on a feature on him in advance of the Champions Tour event in Richmond. Sounds like he has an interesting backstory at least...

I covered a Web.com Tour event in Cleveland in 2014 where Alker and Dawie van der Walt had an 11-hole playoff: 10 holes tied with pars then Alker birdied the 11th. So I've got that going for me.

The Senior TPC was in Dearborn for about 25 years
Among its winners were Jim Albus and Larry Gilbert, who smoked cigars on course and died of lung cancer six months after winning

By about the sixth playoff hole, you must've hated both of them very much.
