And Fritz closes out set 3 -- up 2-1.

And Rafa immediately breaks to open the fourth.

Why were the quarterfinals on at the same time? Could have easily had all (or at least 3) on Centre Court instead of splitting the four between Count 1 and Centre Court.

And Fritz breaks to get back on serve.

Fritz came back from a break down in both of the sets he won.

    I don't get it. Why won't Fritz attack Rafa's weak-ass serves?

I think they were running twin double-bills with the last two women's quarters, won by Halep and Rybakina.

Yesterday and today, there was a men's quarter and a women's quarter each on Centre Court and Court 1.

The schedule loosened with play on the middle Sunday.

So instead of 16 men's and women's fourth-round matches on Manic Monday, they got spread to Sunday and Monday.

The drawback is the the winner of the women's quarters today come back tomorrow for the semis.

Fritz should be kicking himself to Paris and back for this loss.

He didn't lose to the better player today. Rafa was clearly not his best. Fritz played passive the let this one get away. Tennis is a "gentlemen's game", but it's still a competition. When your opponent shows weakness you attack and take advantage of it. Fritz did neither -- and now he's done.

People are going to spin this as Rafa being so tough and so gritty and so game and never giving up -- and he is all those things.

But make no mistake, this match was there for the taking, and Taylor Fritz was too timid to take it.

Agreed. I caught the end of the 2nd and end of 3rd and Fritz was still somewhat passive on rallies, seemingly hoping that Nadal would fold instead of pushing him to move. Now what I did see was Nadal was hitting some amazing forehands but his first serve was "only" 100 mph and second at 90 and Fritz didn't take advantage of that.

Even so, I think at least 90% of the players would have retired after the 3rd set.
