As I said, Nadal is insanely tough and never, ever quits.

He still should have lost, probably in straight sets.

If he plays like this, he might not get past Kyrgios, and Djokovic will destroy him.

Fritz wasn't nearly as aggressive as I thought he should have been. Of course, when you get second serves of 83, 89 and 91 mph and hit all of them out, you don't deserve to win.

IF Nadal was playing Sinner, Sinner would have roasted those balls (based on what I saw against Djoker).

Early lines for tomorrow ... Jabeur is -789 in her semifinal, Halep is -303 in hers.

Gotta say I didn’t see this one going the distance.

Maria REALLY could've used those ranking points from a semifinal run after having zero points to defend. Instead of being a borderline U.S. Open seed she'll be on the bubble even to avoid qualifying.

Yeah, me neither. Had to go out and shoot some photos and left right after the 6-2 first set, figured it would be easy peasy. Whatever. Not cashing out. It was only a $5 bet to begin with. Current cashout is $20ish. Let's ride it to the end!

Hey, BTE, how do you pronounce Rybakina? The announcers have been all over the place on it. I've heard rib-a-KEEN-a, ri-BOCK-ina, RYE-ba-KEEN-a, ri-BYE-kina.

You're our resident Russian expert. How should I say it?

Almost sure it's ree-BAH-kee-na (the second one you posted).

There are no long "A", "I" or "O" vowel sounds in Russian. Which makes the "...OHHVA" endings American announcers use particularly grating.

Closest you see is "ОЙ" (pronounced "oy").

Rafa is withdrawing, and Nick Kyrgios receives a walkover into the Wimbledon final. Wonder if he goes to Center Court to yell at fans and the chair umpire for a half-hour just to stay warmed up.

Wow. The next obvious question is whether that’s the last we’ll see of Rafa as a competitive player. He’s been hinting about retiring for awhile now, and now that the Grand Slam is no longer a possibility, what worlds are there left to conquer?
